Labour Grassroots Live Tour

Donation protected

Since lockdown started in March last year, Labour Grassroots has been producing twice weekly shows on Zoom to keep morale up and to bring activists together across the country.

We've had some incredible shows, including a discussion on Labour Leaks that was watched by thousands of people, two birthday parties for Jeremy Corbyn, a celebration of Diane Abbott's 33 years in parliament, a New Year's Eve Party, the Dennis Skinner single.

And we've set up an alternative Sunday morning show, Not the Andrew Marr Show, which regularly brings in big audiences on Zoom.

Now that lockdown is coming to an end, it's time we got out there and brought people together for live shows up and down the country.

It's time for people to hear there is an alternative and to see they are not alone in believing that.

The Labour Party under Keir Starmer is not going to do it. So why don't we?

We're planning up to ten shows before the Party Conference in Brighton.

We'll have speakers including Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell, Shami Chakrabarti, Rebecca Long Bailey, Richard Burgon, Laura Pidcock, Andrew Fisher, Lindsey German (Stop the War), John Dunn (Orgreave Truth & Justice), Andrea Gilbert (Labour Black Socialists), Luke Smith (GRT Socialists) and many more people who have been on our show.

And it won't all be politics, we'll have music, poetry and comedy.

Each show will include stalls from local campaign groups who are doing stuff in your area.

This will raise morale and start the fightback against this Tory government and an insipid opposition.

To get this off the ground, we will need your support.

The £12,000 target

Having found that indoor venues have massively reduced capacities (a 600 seater venue would only take 120 people), we have decided to ffocus exclusively on outdoor events.

To get these off the ground, we will need a stage and marquee.

The easiest way to do this is to purchase a truck that converts into a stage with PA.

We have been offered a solar-powered truck for £7,500 but we will also need to cover insurance and public liability insurance as well as a PA system that can run off the solar power. And we will need to rent a space to part the vehicle when it is not being used.

We will be inviting people to name the truck as well as to design the exterior. We will aim to use the truck as much as possible to engage s many people as possible. And promise to hold at least 10 dates between the first week of August and the last week of September.
