Lawyer fees against systemic racism

Donation protected

"A decentralized pattern of behaviors, policies, and a social atmosphere, propagated by the implicit biases of individuals within institutions, to deny, restrict, or discourage, a minority group from partaking in the rights and/or privileges granted to all citizens" - WNL

Systemic racism is greatly affecting one of community members, a local well known activist, Faith Lightsy. Her innocent son is being forced to either take a plea deal or face trial with a public defender, possibly getting life. He has already been in jail for almost 2 years. This situation happens literally all the time, especially in the south where the prison industrial complex is alive and well. The first photo really gets to me. They changed his race in his paperwork to try to not make themselves look evil. The truth is Louisiana has one of the most oppressive and racist criminal justice systems in the country.

We are raising money for a lawyer before her son's trial in February. If we can get to 4,000 the we could retain his services and work on paying the rest in installments. We would also like to raise money for Faith to be able to go to her son's trial. Please give what ever you can and spread the word. Thank you.
