Others may look on, confused, whispering, and questioning: *Why doesn’t the salmon go with the flow? What’s wrong with it? Why is it swimming in the opposite direction?*

Instead of forging their own way, some fish spend their time judging, questioning the salmon’s strength, its knowledge.

The salmon does not falter. It moves with purpose, never swayed by the opinions of others. It doesn’t care what they say. It knows its path and moves forward with unyielding determination.

In the end, the salmon is the toughest of fish, yet also the most tender. The salmon holds the secret to life: swimming upstream is not a weakness; it is the mark of resilience. It is the symbol of staying true to oneself, no matter the cost. To be near the salmon is to be made stronger. Its presence fortifies the heart, sharpens the mind, and enriches the soul. The salmon is not just resilient—it is wise, versatile, and enduring.

She gave freely—if you needed shelter, her door was always open. It didn’t matter what you could offer in return; Leona believed in generosity, in kindness. She was as funny as she was fashionable, a unique blend of strength and warmth.

Her *Gitjou* (mother), Dr. Andrea Simon, is now preparing to bring Ona home. Leona’s family spans Turtle Island, from the far North to the South, and we are asking for support to reunite them, to send Ona off in a good way. Any remaining funds will go towards her final expenses.
