Let’s get Jaffer and his family to safety

Donation protected
Jaffer Murtaja and his family need to escape the war in Gaza. Their lives are at risk every day. They want to cross the border into Egypt. Once in Egypt, they will be waiting for visas for Australia - they have a sponsor. Jaffer’s family is his parents, siblings and their spouses. They are young professionals; engineer, medical scientists, social worker and computer systems engineer. One of Jaffer’s sister has type 1 diabetes and is short of insulin. His father has several medical issues which have been unable to be managed. They are deeply traumatised by their displacement, the constant attacks and the deaths of Jasser’s cousin’s wife and children. They are people like us who had good lives, a nice home and careers they enjoyed. They desperately want to be safe again.
The Egyptian border crossing costs approx $5000 USD for each person and there are 8 people to get across. I have sighted passports and identity documents. I know they deserve our utmost efforts to assist.

Here is Jaffer’s story in his words

The war began on 10/7/2023. The first displacement of my family from their home in Gaza on 10/13/2023. They moved for the first time to the Nuseirat camp and faced many difficulties, including the lack of water, food, and electricity, the lack of a place to sleep, the lack of bread for food, and its high price! They were in Nuseirat camp for 70 days, suffering a lot from these difficulties, and they thought they were in a safe place based on the instructions of the occupation army, but they were exposed to bombing, destruction, and gunfire!! On the morning of Friday, October 22, 2023, news came to them of the evacuation of the Nuseirat area in which they were present. They were forced to flee for the second time. They went out into the unknown and were very nervous and did not know where they would go. They were moved to Rafah camp, to a house in which 35 people were crammed together. In an area of 90 square meters, there is only one bathroom. They live in a room full of humidity, extreme cold, lack of water here in Rafah camp, and outrageous high prices. It has been 138 days for my family without work, electricity, or cooking gas. They really miss these things.
