Bobby Hayden Mckenna
My Beautiful Sister Kerrie-Anneand her husband Noel presented us with a gorgeous Nephew Bobby Hayden Mckenna on the 5th of January 2015. Bobby is the 3rd addition to their family.
Unfortunately Bobby has just been diagnosed with Biliary Artresia and has to go through a major operation. This is not the first time Kerrie-Anne and Noel have gone through a life threatening operation for one of their children! Their eldest son, Leon was born Downs Syndrome 6 years ago and had to go through an open heart surgery when he was a few months old.
Kerrie and Noel brought home their little bundle of joy to greet his big brothers, Leon (6) and Alex (4). A few weeks later Kerrie-Anne noticed that Bobby was looking a bit jaundiced even though jaundice was absent at birth. She immediately brought him to the doctors and was sent up to Crumlin hospital for tests. This is when we found out the devastating news.
Bobby was diagnosed with Biliary Artresia.
Bobby is being sent over to either Kings Hospital, Ormonde Street Hospital or Leeds Hospital in the next 4 /5 weeks for survival.

I will explain below Biliary Artresia.
In the meantime, they are going to have to leave 2 kids behind in Glenealy, Wicklow, Ireland for a minimum of a few weeks. This condition Bobby has is a blockage in the liver. He has the worse type of it. it is going to be years of back and forth to the hospital in England and also monitored very tightly in Crumlin Hosptial for the 1st year on a weekly basis.
Biliary Artresia is a blockage in the liver. The Surgeon is going to try unblock the liver by taking out the bile ducts. They are then going to attach the intestines to the liver. There is a 1 in 3 chance of this working as only 3 babies a year is born with this condition. It is extremely rare in babies. They will be sent home after a few weeks to Ireland, If this operation is not successful, Bobby will have to go to the hospital in England to try again unblock the ducts.
Realistically is this doesn't work Bobby will have to receive a liver transplant which can only be given by another Baby.
The reason we have set this up is because they have 2 other little boys at home, a house to run, costs going back and forth to the hospitals in England and Ireland for a minimum of a year and will also have to stay for long periods in England.
Any donation will be appreciated. Also if you could share this for me, we would be so thankful.
