Logan's Fight

It’s so true how life can change in an instant.  Logan was a perfect, athletic, healthy boy. We were enjoying a wonderful family vacation when we noticed his eyes turned yellow. Two days later our perfect boy was in liver failure. Our life was turned upside down. We met with the transplant team,  even filled out paperwork to have him listed. My husband and i could only watch as our little boy endured biopsies, hundreds of viles of blood being taken, ultrasounds, kidney stones, medication side effects which today he is still dealing with. Today Logan is facing his toughest battle, his immune system has finally stopped attacking his liver and is now concentrating on his blood. He recently received a diagnosis of severe aplastic anemia. SAA is a life threatening bone marrow failure disease. Logan’s life depends on transfusions of blood and platelets. His best shot for a cure is a sibling-matched donor for a bone marrow transplant. With only a 25 percent shot we were relieved to receive the news that his sister was a match. Now Logan’s toughest journey begins. He is facing a 4 to 5 week hospital stay, chemo, isolation away from family and friends. Logan has demonstrated strength and bravery that is unrecognizable to most adults. His journey will be tough but there is no doubt Logan is tougher!

Logan’s Parents Rocco Alseika and Prudence Alseika are looking  to raise money to help with travel expenses, food, lodging and medical expenses not covered by insurance while Logan receives treatment at CHOP.
