Luke Wants to Go to Prep School

Hello everyone,

My 13 year old, soon to enter eighth grade son, Luke, is a passionate hockey player.  At the age of 4 he was introduced to the game by my late husband Roger.  Having made a promise to his dad, he dedicated himself to the sport and has never missed a season since.  His perseverance made way for him to receive many awards; and most recently earned him the 2014 - 2015 MVP award.

A few days ago, at a prep school showcase, where our original objective was to prepare for a next-year ninth grade entry, we were presented with a surprisingly unplanned opportunity for Luke to further progress.

I really, really, need your help to raise $60,000 to send Luke to prep school this year.  School starts on Sept. 3, 2015.

*** Although, we will be thankful and accept any gift, we are asking that the minimum contribution be $30.00. 

Here’s Our Story….

At the showcase, a coach liked Luke’s performance on and off the ice.  He asked about his grades and extracurricular activities.  The coach made some calls and on August 12, just a few days later, Luke had toured the campus, sat through a 45 minute interview, completed a writing sample and was told by the head hockey coach along with the 8th grade English teacher / 8th grade boys’ dorm parent, that he is a great fit and that, as far as they are concerned, they would love to have him start 8th grade with them this fall at Rumsey Hall School. 

School starts in less than three weeks.

The dilemma – the 2015-2016 tuition and fees total $60,000.  Tuition deposits are long past due.  No additional financial aid is available at this time because it has been allocated to current students, and earlier applicants.

I have been assured that if we come up with the funds this year that Rumsey will make sure that Luke receives ample financial aid next year.  Their policy is that no successful returning student is ever turned away if their finances become an issue.

I have to contact the Admissions Office this coming Monday, August 17, and let them know if I am able to pay for the 2015 school year.  They have only one vacancy in the eighth grade dorm and they have 10 other boys on the waiting list.  By now 66% of the tuition should have been paid.  I need your help today, please.

If you could find it in your heart to both make a donation toward the 'Luke Wants to Go to Prep School Fund' and encourage a friend or two or three to donate as well, then we believe we can meet our goal in time to secure Luke’s placement this fall.

As my late husband would always say, "It takes a village". Truth is - Luke and I are really counting on our village to come through for us.
