Lucy's Stitched Hugs
Lucy is a 9 year old with a big idea and an even bigger heart. She learned of an organization in our community that assists families who are homeless attain housing and stability. She wanted to do something to help. Her plan is to make quilts and stuffed animals for the kids in those families to give them comfort and love.
She zipped through all the fabric from friends donations along with some from her Mom and Nana. When that ran out, she made about 3 dozen pies to sell for Thanksgiving to friends and family. That helped buy more fabric and allowed her to finish 32 quilts and some snuggle pillows! For 2016 she has made and donated over 80 quilts!
Her goal is to make even more quilts and stuffed animals as well for all the kids for Christmas. Of course, that means more fabric, batting, and stuffing.
She has even sold some of her own toys and Legos to help fund her project. For Christmas, she only asks for fabric to sew more quilts to donate. For those who think people with Autism don't feel empathy Lucy is proof that they do very much! You'll never meet a more caring kid. She is most happy when she's doing something for someone else.
If you are able to donate it will help Lucy continue with her goal and allow her to continue helping others.
