Jimmy Wilson is primarily known for being a dedicated father to 6-year-old daughter Koura, and his passionate contributions to the surfing community as a longtime photographer, videographer, and writer.
He was in a snowboarding accident at Powder Mountain, UT on February 20, 2021. Near the end of the day, Jimmy was following friends down another epic run when he slid out on an undercover rock, and immediately slammed the left side his body into another rock that was also hidden under snow.
Somehow, through survival instincts and adrenaline, Jimmy managed to push himself up and struggle to a point of the mountain where his friends could see him and call for help.
Jimmy ended up with six lumbar transverse process fractures, a psoas muscle hematoma, and broken ribs. He feels very grateful and lucky that he is not paralyzed or worse.
Jimmy is optimistic about his recovery but it won’t be easy. He needs extra hands for daily chores and will have difficulty working for some time. He will not be able to carry and handle his camera equipment, swim in the water, or travel for work for some time.
This setback had the unfortunate timing of coming right after a five-month recovery for a Grade 2 MCL tear in his left knee.
All monies raised for Jimmy will be put toward his medical expenses, and physical therapy during his recovery.
Thank you all for the outpouring of well wishes and love.
