Mark Davies Memorial Fund

Donation protected

After the sad news we received on the weekend of Mark Davies sadly passing away whilst playing for our Llanelli Veterans team in the cup final on 15th May 2022, we have been in touch with his family to set up this donation page to support them the best we could.

Mark will be truly missed by everyone that knew him, he was a true gentleman on and off the field. His passion for football and his love for his daughters will always be remembered.

RIP Mark ⚽️❤️

We don’t believe that there are words in existence to articulate how we are feeling, but my dad would always tell me “just try your best cariad that’s all you can do”. We would like to extend our most sincerest thank you’s to every person who has taken the time to message, give so generously, talk about and have my dad in their thoughts, not just now but always. I think it need not be said how well known and loved he was by so many, even for a man who kept his circle so small and lived such a private and uncomplicated life. He would have dropped everything to help absolutely anyone and yet expected nothing from life in return, a rare trait nowadays. We never thought there would be a version of life without him in it, to come to our rescue and be the glue to hold things together, to build our flat pack furniture, wipe away tears and give advice, even when it wasn’t always asked for. My dad lived a very simple life, which revolved around football, friends (of which there are many), myself and Grace and more recently, his soulmate Kath and her family, who were the missing piece to his puzzle. He would say that the rest was just embellishment, which he was right of course. So with that said, we would like to invite all who knew and loved my dad Mark to a celebration of his life, a life I think we can all agree was well lived despite the adversities faced along the way. This will take place on Sunday 29th May at Stebonheath Club from 15:00 to 00:30. As my dad always insisted on being different and embracing his unique ways, we would like to make everyone aware that there will be nothing traditional about this celebration. In line with his wishes, there will be no funeral service, hymns, hearses or black clothing and sad faces. Instead, we would like everyone to join us wearing colour, and to bring with them their fondest and funniest memories of my dad to share. If love alone could have kept him with us, he would’ve been here forever.

“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss and found their way out of depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”
