Hi, I’m Matthew and I'm going to walk the length of the Britain. I’ll be walking along the Spine of Albion, an ancient leyline that runs up the center of these lands and connects a series of sacred sites, energy portals and ancient myths.
I’ll be starting at the southern tip of the Isle of Wight and walking north through the centre of England, and then through the heart of Scotland to Durness in the far north.
My first day of walking will be my 38th birthday on the 31st of January 2025. So as of this announcement, I have exactly one month before my first step to prepare and get all the normal life stuff sorted.
This might look like a hike, but really it’s a right of passage, a community deepening, a regional awakening, and a grief ceremony all rolled into one.
As I walk I want use this opportunity to have some of the most important conversations of our time with you, to explore where we’ve been, to get real about where we are, and to talk about where we’re going and what comes next.
I hope you can feel that this walk is about a lot more than just me, it feels like a devotional act and a walking prayer for our human family, and to be honest, I’m pretty terrified of the challenge that lies head.
But what’s a rite of passage without a little bit of terror?
There’s also a pretty big chance that I don’t make it. I have a knee injury that will require a bit of a miracle just to get to Manchester, which is around a third of the way mark.
There’s a bunch of other reasons why this doesn’t make logical sense, a bunch of reasons why I should turn away from this or do it another time.
But sometimes in life, we come to moments where we just know that we must. Where the logic isn't the answer and we have to let a greater love lead us and find the trust inside ourselves to give all of our being to the call.
This is one of those moments in my life.
I’d love for you to follow along, to support this audacious dreaming, to help me where you can, to be part of these deeper conversations, and to stand with me in this mission.
HOW I'LL USE THE FUNDS
Money raised will go towards supporting me to be sufficiently equipped for the journey, stay safe on the path, cover any personal expenses associated with being away from home, and meet any costs associated with rallying the wider community along the way.
By contributing to my gofundme campaign you are directly helping me to make this a reality and send a ripple along the Spine of Albion and throughout Britain.
