Medical and Travel expenses for Jonathan Chavez
Donation protected
My name is Kesha I am Jonathans cousin. I created this to help with the medical/ travel expenses for Jonathan. Friday May 26th Jonathan was on the tractor with his older cousin helping with the garden. He fell off the tractor and the tire ran up the side of his left leg. His pelvis has 3 fractures, and his femur is fractured as well. The acetabulum in his hip was smashed, his left hip was also dislocated. He was lifeflighted to Vanderbilt Childrens hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. The surgeons were able to repair his pelvis with 2 screws, and replaced his acetabulum with a metal plate. During surgery the surgeons determined he has some lower spinal injuries, but are not concerned due to the location of these injuries and stated they will heal on their own, Thank God! He goes in for another surgery Tuesday 5/30 to finish repairing his pelvis and his femur with a rod so his bones will heal correctly. He has a temporary half halo around the front of his waist to help with the healing process. He’s
had to have several blood transfusions with the possibility of needing more. Jonathan was diagnosed with neurfibromitsos type 1 at the age of 1. Since then he's had several rounds of chemo, and currently has a shunt placed on the right side of his brain to drain hydrocephalus fluid into his stomach. He's also taking chemo pills twice a day, but his neurologist has put a pause on the chemo pills until he comes home to ensure his bones heal properly. He has road rash all down his left side and could possibly need a skin graph. He has a long road ahead of him, after his surgery tuesday we will know more about his healing process. The amount of time he will be in the hospital is to be determined. His mom is staying with him in the hospital and his dad is staying home with his 2 brothers but going to visit as much as he can. Anything at all will help with the medical /travel expenses. Jonathan is a god loving little boy and has not cried one time since this happened. As he said "the tractor did not hurt me, i am strong, and i didnt even cry." He always has a smile on his face and loves everyone he meets. Even if you cannot give we completely understand and will take all the prayers we can get. Our family is never ones to ask for help, but this is a time we need it most. We thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts. When Jonathan comes home and feels better i will do a video of him thanking everyone for their help and prayers!
