Colleen's Courageous Fight
Donation protected
My name is Colleen Finnegan. I'm 39 and a lucky mother to 2 amazing boys, Falilou, 16, and Max, 5.
Those of you who know me are aware of how hard it is for me to sit still! I've always been active. I love to fish, shoot, hike, camp, swim with my boys, ride dirt bikes, play guitar, snowboard, listen to Heavy Metal, Rock, and Country music, and most of all, LAUGH and enjoy life!!
Four weeks ago, that was all ripped away from us when I ended up in the ER for excruciating abdominal pain. Pain in the lower abdomen is SUPER tricky to diagnose because so many things are inside. They took my blood for lab work, did a pelvic ultrasound looking for ovarian cysts, and didn't find anything visible at the time. So they sent me home with ulcer medication and told me to follow up with my family doctor, yet I was still in pain.
Two days later, I got the call... A brain tumor on my pituitary gland was overproducing a nasty hormone. Then sending it throughout my body while also blocking an essential hormone called dopamine from being produced and distributed altogether. I knew about the tumor, but there was no threat then. Max was born a year later, and I thought I was okay. I felt fine. Until a few weeks ago...
I learned what it does...It's silent and nasty. It causes significant imbalances in my brain, making simple everyday activities like talking, cognitive functions, the brain's reward system, memory, speech, motor skills, and rational thought almost impossible for many reasons. It attacks the reproductive system, ripping life from even having a chance and causing me one stillbirth and two miscarriages over the years.
Even writing has become problematic recently, so Falilou, my oldest, had to help me organize this fundraiser. It's taken me about a week to get through it. What was once simple to me is now like climbing a mountain against the wind overnight! (Thanks Kiddo, I Love you, Buddy!!)
With each appointment came more results and more Specialists
4 days ago I found out I have Cervical Cancer and I was speechless. All could do was listen and cry. I have a procedure coming up to see how far along the cancer is, in just a couple of weeks. We are still in the very beginning stages of figuring out what to do. I DO know that I cant move forward with treatment until I fix my teeth.
My life changed dramatically and as overwhelming as it is I'm hopeful. I have a couple of weeks to reach out to friends, family, and supporters to raise the money needed to fix my teeth and move directly to treatment for my tumor and cancer. I am asking from the bottom of my heart for donations to "Help SAVE MOMMY!"
Thank you especially to Ben, my husband and best friend for everything you do. I love you! You're pretty NEAT!
HPV is serious and can be deadly if not caught. I want to spread the word about this and the dangers of not getting checked. How serious preventative visits are not just for yourself but your loved ones. My health started to decline after I had Covid in sept of last year and I didn't even realize it.
There is a way to help that will not only possibly save my life but show my boys there is hope and compassion still in the world. This fundraiser was created to help ease the financial burden of these tragedies and cover medical expenses. On top of everyday needs like bills, food, and essentials. ANYTHING HELPS! Even sharing this post, thoughts prayers and all positive vibes welcome!
Feel free to message me with questions and we will get back as soon as we can.
More updates to come!
Thank you so much for your donations, love, and support!
