Mr. Schroeter

This funding is being built to encourage the support for a mental health/wellness room recently approved for students that recognize their need for some additional emotional support. The funding is for furniture, equipment, books, etc and is appreciated in honor of the life of James Marcus Schroeter - AKA "Mr. Schroeter."

Thank you everyone for your donations - we are absolutely floored by all of the generosity towards this incredible project. As we reach our set goal we will be extending the limit of donations in hopes to help fund a Challenge Day to be held at Narragansett High School in the upcoming school year.

Mr. Schroeter was always a mentor during Challenge Day as a way to help support and show compassion and understanding towards his students, who he held nothing but respect for. Challenge Day is a project that helps students come together and connect on levels that may not be possible as they pass teachers in the hallways or share a classroom amongst themselves every day. It gives an opportunity to celebrate differences and similarities and for students to become raw and real with their peers while providing strategies for showing empathy and encouraging the teens participating to take a step back and see those around them who may be struggling.

With costs as a major factor, Narragansett High School has not been able to host a Challenge Day since 2020 and may otherwise be unable to on their own in the foreseeable future. Alongside Mr. Schroeter mentoring that year (in 2020) was his son, Griffin and daughter-in-law Michaela who were former Challenge Day participants in 2013. They can attest to how helpful it was for them to participate when they were students and how, while mentoring, they saw dozens of students who needed extra support who may not have gotten it if they had not had the opportunity to open up during Challenge Day. Our goal is to provide additional financial support to encourage Narragansett High School to host a Challenge Day this next year!
