Bechtel Builds Muduha Footbridge - Rwanda 2022
Donation protected
Ten Bechtel Colleagues living and working in six different countries have teamed up with the charity, Bridges to Prosperity, to plan and build a much needed footbridge for the villagers of Muduha in Rwanda.
The team consists of: Abby Jones, Abi Tetteh, Carlos Villalobos, David Hanna, David Ivo, Hussain Alalshikhjaffar, Jazmine Hormazabal, Joseph Chuwa, Neva Uncu and Reyam Al-Jadder.
This bridge will enable the 800 community members safe and all year access to market centres for trade as well as the local health centre and school. The river which separates the community is too dangerous to cross due to flooding during rainy season, which cuts off critical resources to the community. Attempts to cross the river by the villagers has resulted in multiple injuries and fatalities each year.
After months of engagement and surveys with the community, the design for the 52m long suspension bridge is complete and the team have committed a two week period to complete the build.
£20,000 is required to fund the final build which will take place over two weeks from the 16th of October. The money raised will cover the travel costs and equipment for the team of ten (listed above) and for the local workforce.
Without this funding the project will suffer a considerable setback and we are running out of time! Any support for this project will be greatly received and will really make a difference.
Thank you
