NEEDS HELP GETTING to NEW NERVOUS SYSTEM INSTALLATION Appt.

Donation protected

Hi, I'm Mike, I'm a 56yr old guy who, for the last 6 years has been homeless until very recently. I am in seeking help in covering the costs of getting to Southern California by car for an experimental procedure. The procedure is an experimental treatment to try and restart my nervous system so that it will begin regenerating again. This has become a life and death issue as the system failure spreads throughout more and more of my body.

Approximately 15 yrs ago, I fell about 327 ft., the shock of that fall caused my nervous system to quite regenerating. I was hospitalized for about 2.5 months, having had 5 major surgeries and 4 minor ones to try and repair all of the damage caused from the fall. My pelvis required an 8 inch screw in the back and metal plate in the front to hold it together, I had several broken/cracked ribs, punctured lung, muscles torn and overstretched Over the last few years I've started to experience many different issues including temporary paralysis in all the limbs at different times and most recently problems in autonomous systems - heart rate, breathing, general body functions that we don't think about -- basically the nerves are "short circuiting" like a wiring harness gone bad. I experience fibromyalgia like attacks, but instead of it being localized in a specific area of the body, it generally is full body involvement. My doctor's have tried everything possible, along with participating in some trial treatments, all having failed to restart the nervous system in regenerating itself.

I've been presented with one last opportunity to participate in an experimental treatment/study that is still in its research phase. All of the costs directly related to the treatment is being covered, with the exception of the travel costs. Last Summer I was diagnosed with "Afib" and due the heart condition, I cannot travel by air, which means I've got to drive down to Southern California for this treatment . I have someone who is willing to drive me, but I need to provide the vehicle and cover the expenses involved in a road trip: ie. gas, food, lodging, etc. I've negotiated a deal with one of the car share companies for the 3 week use of one of their vehicles, which will allow me to travel in a safe and reliably, insured car. I'm figuring a week to drive down there, and planning 3-7 days for the procedure and pist evaluation, and if it appears to have been successful, start heading home and prepare to start returning to a normal life: looking for work as well as resuming a more active role in many of the things I enjoyed doing but not having been physically able to do: volunteering at local Food Bank, also assisting one of the local homeless charity groups provides a helping hand to the homeless people in the area by providing things that are needed to survive but which someone may not have the means to get for themselves.

Any remaining funds after the trip will be used in one of two ways:

1) If treatment appears to be successful, any remaining funds are going to be donated to the Homeless Charity groups I've mentioned.

2) if the treament us unsuccessful: any remaining funds are going to be put to towards the purchase of a good power chair as my legs are at the point if no longer being able to support me.

Any and all assistance anyone is able to provide to me in this endeavor is greatly appreciated.

I have no family or close friends left from before I became homeless, and while I know the few people that I have been lucky enough to meet that I can call "friend" will do whatever they can to help me, I know that this is a bigger need than I would want to ask of just them.

While the treatment is basically awaiting me to say when I can get down there, I cannot wait much longer, as my condition is quickening its pace of damaging/destroying my nervous system.

THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE READ THIS!! And my eternal gratitude to to those of you who are able to assist me in what is my last chance at getting healed.
