Next stop...Medical School!

Hello everyone!

As many of you know, I have had a dream of becoming a Surgeon for as long as I can remember.  For those of you who don't know, here is a little bit about me!

I began my college career when I was still in high school, taking night classes for academic enrichment in preparation for early acceptance into college.  All the while, I maintained my GPA and worked at the VA Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant for the Surgical Specialty Clinics.  I completed my Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Biology at UC Davis while maintaining my position as a Nursing Assistant.  I am currently working as a Clinical Research Coordinator, assisting with and overseeing 11 different clinical trials, all while anxiously studying for the Medical College Admissions Test also known as the MCAT.  I have now reached the point in my journey where I am ready to take the MCAT, apply to Medical  School, and crush the interviews, with hopes of acceptance into fall        2019! This process, however, takes not only dedication, patience and  many sleepless nights, but also substantial funding of which I need some help to achieve.  The standard when applying  is to cast a wide net and apply to 25-30 Medical Schools across the country, of which, there are also secondary applications (if the schools I have submitted primary applications to want additional information about/from me).   Then to follow will be the interviews!

My goal is to apply to 40 M.D. and 30 D.O. Schools = 70 Applications


The associated expenses include:

MCAT registration fees                                     $ 315

AAMC + 1 Primary application                     $160

All other applications (70 Total)                    $39 per school

Secondary application fees                              $0-200 (depending on school)

Interview expenses (Flights/Hotel)             $500-1200 (per interview)

I have exhausted other financial options and I have already applied for the Fee Assistance Program (FAP) offered through the AAMC, but unfortunately, I was denied any kind of financial assistance.
