VISION AND BACK STORY
The title of the CD will be Heaven. The concept and vision for the project came from my time in Mongolia this past year. Before I left for Mongolia, I was super excited to serve Jesus and the church … to be in a different nation talking to people about how amazing He is. But I was excited about becoming really close friends with Jesus. Well a few months in, life was getting really difficult. I was struggling with the ministry, and culture, and my relationships, and didn’t feel like I had a home or had much hope. I was crying out to God, my Father one day and said, “God, Mongolia is such a dry and weary land, at least if I was somewhere else I was passionate about I would have vision and hope for it!” I felt God gently respond to me. “Brandon, every place is a dry and weary land without Me.” I was stunned. As I sat down to think about what He said, I realized, “Oh no. That means everything in my life that I’ve hoped in is hopeless.” I begin to realize that I could have the best friends on earth, or the best family on earth, or the best job on earth, or even the greatest ministry on earth, but in the end, it would never be enough. It sounds really spiritual, but it was really kind of depressing, because I realized everything I had been holding onto was meaningless. And in the moment, I hit an ecclesiastical place that I would call “beautifully hopeless”. In this place I realized that there was only one Person that I could actually fully hope in and fully rely on and would always fulfill my desires, and always be enough – Jesus. I started a journey of learning to put all my hope in Jesus alone. And this longing grew in me: To be with Him and to see Him more than anything else on earth. I wasn’t made for this world; I was made for a better place. I was made to see Him face to face in the fullness of His glory. A place where there are no tears, no pain, no hopelessness, no wandering, no confusion, no fear. But there is fullness of life and joy and peace and destiny found at His throne. Heaven is my home. This CD will contain my thoughts, feelings, and longings about heaven and the process along the way, walking with Jesus. And, I want people to meet with Jesus through this CD, which will be full of new, fresh, electronic, electric, dynamic, vibrant music that will appeal to Christians and non-Christians alike.
My mission statement for the music I create has been this: To create music that will unify those on the inside (the Church), and draw those on the outside (the not yet Church).
