Okurut George Trip Fund
Donation protected
My Name is Eugene Poku co-founder of Acroyoga Montreal and I want to introduce you to Okurut George, who’s doing a lot of good work with the communities in Uganda, Africa. Okurut spends his days teaching kids and the communities with dance, Acroyoga and yoga and skating. We all know there is a current poverty, famine and drug crisis on our streets, but he volunteers his time to do something about it. He goes out and teaches dance, Acroyoga and yoga to his streets and communities, keeping them safer. Okurut has also gained the trust of many homeless and at-risk youth, doing all he can to keep them safe.
Okurut has been accepted into the 2018 Acroyoga montréal teacher training held in Montreal Canada from July 3-29, 2018. He has been given a full tuition scholarship from Acroyoga montréal worth $2600.00. Okurut will be provided with accommodations by the local acroyoga community while in Montreal. Because we have not met our goal in time for the 2018 training, we are extending and invitation to George for the 2019 training in Montreal. All funds will be used to pay for his transportation and accomadations for the 2019 teacher training.
This fundraiser is to pay for the cost of his round-trip flight from Uganda to Montreal - Canada, travel and health insurance, visa fess, and food during his stay in Montreal.
This training will deepen and refine Okurut’s knowledge of Acroyoga/yoga and give him more tools to use in his work. His dream is to open a studio that uses yoga/acroyoga, dance and other movement practices as the matrix to negotiate life
Any donations received will be used for his trip to Montreal. Anything extra will also be used for Okurut, in consultation with him and the shelter in Uganda he volunteers at. He loves to be with kids and youth. He has been dancing and doing yoga, Acroyoga with skating but he finds it to be a stress relief. Please help me give a little back to Okurut, for everything he is doing in his community.
Raising the voice of the voiceless through Dance/ Acroyoga is what I have been doing with my wife since 1982. Our inspirational friend in Uganda who is called Okurut George uses Yoga, Acroyoga, Dance and Skating to help transform the communities and bring hope, inspiration and concrete life tools to the young kids in Uganda.
