Omar Shariff Brunson Jr: beloved brother, actor, musician & model
- On Tuesday, February 2nd, Omar sustained a severe muscle injury that triggered Rhabdomyolysis, a breakdown of muscle tissue that releases a damaging protein into the blood. The release of this protein/toxins into his bloodstream has resulted in severe kidney obstruction and renal failure. As a result of the Rhabdomyolysis, Omar also has Hyperkalemia, an elevated level of potassium in the blood. Stressful is an understatement when dealing with Kidney failure and Omar is currently undergoing a 24-hour dialysis treatment, accompanied with aggressive fluid replacement and extensive physical therapy.
Omar is always willing to help his community whether he’s in a position to do so or not. He’s been the resource to so many other artists, friends, and collaborators get their first job when moving to a new city. He’s even helped numerous homeless people with no prior affiliation get a place to stay at his own home, a place to shower, something to eat and managed to provide them with employment. Omar’s been a bridge to success and positive light for so many people anywhere his presence is felt.
He’s exemplified true leadership through his work ethic as an artist, his healthy living process, his compassion and kindness to so many people especially around LA, Miami and Atlanta GA. This is an exceptionally difficult time for his friends, family and the community he’s impacted. With your support, we are hoping to achieve a reasonable amount of monetary aid to assist his mother with the treatment expenses. Dialysis treatments can cost upwards of $9,000.00 per session (4 hours). As of February 2nd, 2023, Omar has been on 24-hour dialysis for 6 days and counting.
