Our beloved Friend, Mick Carter

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,

Our names are Ged and Tracie, we are requesting help in the form of donations to help the family with some of funeral costs for our beloved friend, Mick Carter who has sadly lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday 28th May 2024 at 9.20pm.

Those who knew Mick, knew he would not have given up without a fight especially when he’d be leaving his beloved wife of 40 years, his children Charlotte, Michael and Dean and his 5 precious grandsons Kieran, Finley, Leo, Rory and Coby.

It all began in November 2022, when he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer but unfortunately due to heart problems he would have to endure months of injections of hormones to help prevent the cancer growing and spreading further. This was to ensure that his heart would be strong enough to withstand the next stage of his treatment - Chemotherapy - Mick being a strong, proud and independent man took this in his stride still going to work, attending appointments, looking after the grandchildren and the normal everyday things that people take for granted.

However, before he’d even started Chemotherapy, he started to get pains in his left ribs. Due to the length of time he’d had the pain, he visited the GP, walking centre and hospital several times only to be told it his diaphragm or his heart. This was not the case, as at the insistent pushing to have it investigated more thoroughly it was discovered that had nodules on his lungs, by this time it was already July. He then had biopsies with results coming through in October 2023 with the diagnosis of lung cancer with added news that it had already spread to his bones - therefore, terminal. They could only offer treatment to extend his life. Mick was given a 2 year plan by the doctors.

Even with this prognosis, Mick planned a life between rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy and was prepared to fight for what time he had to spend with his wife, family and friends. The cancer had other ideas and made the fight very hard for a very strong willed man…

Unfortunately the cancer won and he was taken so much quicker than anyone would have thought. The only comfort was knowing he had his family and friends with him in those last few days.

As Mick was taken so much quicker than advised by medical professionals, it has meant that Mick had little time too complete his affairs and as such the funeral fund is a little short and we are requesting some help for the family, I know they would appreciate it.

The details of the funeral and wake are still being finalised but I will update as soon as they are known.

In the event, the more monies are raised than required, the family would like to donate them to MacMillan Cancer Support who took great care of Mick and give support and love to Debbie and family in the last few days.

Your generosity, no matter how small will be greatly appreciate in memory of a truly wonderful husband, father, grandfather and frIend too many.
