Park Watch Scheme

Donation protected
Bramble, our Park Keeper Bear, is very sad that St. Elphin's Park has been subjected to such vandalism.   He has asked the Friends of St. Elphin's Park  to launch a Park Watch Scheme and install CCTV.    He normally sees you all in The Pavilion Tea Rooms, where he collects donations for many good causes, particularly the Warrington Pyjamas for Christmas Appeal.   He is now putting his donations towards the Park Watch Scheme and asking for your help too!

We are asking our local councillors, Tony Higgins and Jean Flaherty to help us get permission to have the CCTV installed but we need you to help us to raise funds to pay for the necessary equipment.

Our park is beautifully maintained by volunteers and Warrington Borough Council and really is at the heart of our community.  Sadly, along with other parks, we have recently had several incidents of vandalism and arson, resulting in serious damage to very expensive play equipment, the outdoor lighting on the buildings and to the soft play tarmac surfaces.

Please help us to raise enough money to install appropriate CCTV which will meet all the legal requirements for personal safety and police use in the event of a crime.  This is an urgent request, as the evenings get darker and colder the temptation to misbehave increases!

We need our park to be a welcome haven to all visitors and we will not be deterred by the mindless behaviour of a very few.  Your support will help us not only to maintain standards in the park but reinforce to our volunteers how important the park is to our community and how their efforts are valued by the majority.
