Patrick's Cancer Emergency Recovery Fund

Patrick is my best friend, we became friends in 2015 while working for the same employer. He's been there for me for years through some of my hardest times and I'm doing this in the hopes that I can be there for him in his time of need. In May of 2019 he started having symptoms of a swollen, and hardened testicle that looked similar to epididymitis which is an infection of the tube in the testicles. He was given antibiotics, but after 2 rounds for 4 weeks his symptoms got worse.  After some testing the doctors diagnosed it as an malignant neoplasm, also known as a cancerous tumor that divides and spreads specifically to your lungs and lymph nodes. After the MRI proved the cancer,  his doctors decided to schedule his surgery as soon as possible rather than wait. On June 21, 2019 Patrick had his left testicle removed and  is still recovering. He's had several complications due to infection which put him in the emergency room and multiple follow up visits to the doctor. Unfortunately his insurance did not cover a majority of tests and office visits, and a large amount of his surgery that was necessary. In a matter of a month Patrick's medical bills have gone from $0 to over $19,000. He was able to work with the hospital's financial counseling program to negotiate a lesser amount of $13,000. Patrick returned to work one week after his surgery despite needing to rest in order to try his hardest to keep his bills from piling up. Patrick had a CT scan done of his torso and pelvis to see if his cancer spread before his surgery, and we will have the results on August 9, 2019, so there may still be a longer road of recovery ahead. Even if results look good, there is still a standard course of action to go through with various tests and oncology visits. I'm now turning to the friends and family of both Patrick and I to please, if you can spare anything towards helping, we would be most appreciative. In the time that I've known Patrick he's always been reliable and willing to help anyone he could. I'm doing this on his behalf to help in any way.
