New Gymnastics Floor
Donation protected
Pinetown (Durban, South Africa) Gymnastics is home to the “Wild Dogs” - the strength of the pack is the dog and the strength of the dog is the pack! Pinetown Gymnastics is extremely proud of the standard of their equipment but unfortunately the competition floor area has now reached the end of its lifespan! There is no pile left on the carpets and there are many broken spring boards underneath.
The killer blow to Pinetown Gymnastics Club (PGC) was the release of the new equipment specifications for the 2020 Olympic cycle which renders the current competition floor technically obsolete.
We are appealing to anyone who would like to make any contribution to help our cause to renew our gymnastics competition floor area.
Overview of Pinetown Gymnastics
The Pinetown Gymnastics Club (PGC) opened in 1991 and is a non-profit organization located in Lahee Park, Pinetown Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The mission statement of PGC is to advance, promote and improve gymnastics in all facets in the club.
We endeavor to embrace the following values in our efforts to be a world class organization for gymnasts, parent body, coaches, technical officials and support staff:
Safety First
A safe physical environment – the right equipment, first aid and safe buildings.
A safe social environment – policies and practices that are inclusive, we are tolerant and welcoming for all gymnasts (including people with disabilities, indigenous and/or from culturally diverse backgrounds).
Respect
We respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
Good Conduct
Please show respect to and acknowledge your team mates, opposition and officials. (e.g. shake hands and wish other athletes good luck, thank your coach and the officials).
“Fair Play”
Fair competition & training without use of banned substances or risky techniques
Friendship – team mates & competitors
Tolerance & respect – everyone has different strengths and weaknesses
Commitment
Work equally hard for yourself and your club
Team Work
We involve all in decisions, leadership, planning, and evaluations related to the club.
Impact on members
We provide a world class facility and coaching to all participants regardless of background or ability to pay for the services.
Both members who were part of the Commonwealth Games team were from disadvantaged backgrounds which demonstrated our commitment to achieving great things with ordinary people.
The club has a strong commitment to assist local disadvantaged communities and offers free tuition to selected members who demonstrate training ethic and talent.
We also empower young people by offering coaching internships with the focus being on African females.
