Ptosis Repair Surgery for Little Miss Mary

Hello friends,

Luke and I have started this fundraising for our beautiful 7 month old daughter Mary who is in need of an immediate surgery to correct her congenital ptosis (droopy eyelid).

Mary is a very healthy and happy little girl, however her ptosis is classified as severe. Her right eyelid muscle function is very poor and her vision is quite compromised. This may delay her motor skills development and could create a permanent vision impairment if we do not go ahead with the surgery soon.

We have done an extensive research on this topic and have found that the best type of surgery for Mary (that has the highest success rate) is not offered here in Australia. Most surgeons here will not operate on a baby and will prefer to wait until she is at least 4 years old.

Dr Ramon Medel is a Spanish oculoplastic surgeon, who pioneered an advanced technique which incisions will not be seen and the result would last a lifetime. We are hoping to bring Mary to see him in October for the surgery.

The surgery will cost €6,000 (approx $9,000 AUD) and we will also have to fly to Malaga, Spain for the procedure.
