Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
Hello my name is Dominic Weidemann, I am now a life scout in troop 159.
For my project, I will be building a butterfly garden for the cottage residents who reside at The Chelsea at Bald Eagle in West Milford NJ. This butterfly garden will allow residents to spend time outside while they look at the butterflies, enjoying them in their natural habitat.
Butterflies are not only fun to watch but they serve a critical purpose as well. Butterflies and other pollinators including bees, moths, birds, and bats pollinate over 75% of the world's flowering plants. As bee populations drop, the role of the butterfly becomes even more vital.
Some common butterfly species in the West Milford NJ area are:
• Monarch
• Red admiral
• Eastern tiger swallowtail
• Black swallowtail
• Cabbage white
My goal is to plant a wide variety of plants to bring all species of butterflies in through the season.
I plan on fundraising $2,500 for the materials and plants. Once I have the necessary materials, my troop, family and friends will begin to build the garden with me. We hope to have everything done before mid January.
If you are able to help me by making a donation towards my Eagle Scout project, it would be extremely appreciated.
