Greetings! My name is Nicole Antonette Mokeme.
Do you or someone you know have any leads on a reliable vehicle??
I am in URGENT NEED of a reliable car by September.
Here's what's frustrating. I am an active community member (in Portland, Maine) affiliated with a number of organizations who receive thousands of dollars in grants to do important work in our communities. I am grateful and excited to have the funds to do the work that we love and need but what about the necessities of the people who are doing the work?
Currently, I am
-Mother of an incredibly wonderful 6 year old first grader
-Creative Director of Rise and Shine Youth Retreat (a 6 month leadership training and wellness retreat for teenage girls)
-Co-Creator and Director of Education for Theater Ensemble of Color (a local theater company who creates performances around identity and social justice)
-Performance Artist of Hi Tiger (A pop art music and visual performance ensemble)
-Youth Mentor and Adult Board Member of Kesho Wazo (a Portland based, youth-led arts and activist collective)
-Administrator of Black Artist Forum (a coalition created to develop resources and visibility for black artists in Maine)
-Member of Deeing High School PTO (a parent/teacher organization building bridges between students, family and Deering High school community)
-Member of Portland Empowered (a parent/teacher organization building bridges between students, family and the Portland Public High school community)
-Art Teacher of Roots and Fruits Preschool ( an arts and social justice school for children, ages 3-5 years old)
We get funding for art and community work but personal life is real too and I need resources!!
With all that I do here in Portland, I'd like to be able to go home at the end of a long day. I actually live about an hour away from Portland. My car is no longer working.
I am currently staying with a friend in Portland but I would REALLY love to get back to the comfort of my own home. I need a reliable car that I can drive to and from home/work daily.
Do you have any leads on a car?
Know anyone who has an extra vehicle that is not in use?
Know of any grants who assist low income households with obtaining a reliable car?
Know of any organizations who offer development accounts for vehicle purchase?
Car share?
Will you help me raise money to put toward my car fund?
This is a call for help! Please spread the word.
Big thanks!!
