Hull Farmstead Threshing Barn Restoration

An important piece to the puzzle that is the historic Hull farmstead - the home of Revolutionary War veteran Warren Hull - will soon be put in place. The reconstruction of a 200-year-old threshing barn will be completed next spring - with your help!
I'm Sarah, a proud volunteer at Hull Family Home & Farmstead in Lancaster, NY.
The Hull Family Home & Farmstead tells the story of a simple farming family in Western New York chasing a dream: owning some land, building a home for their family (of 12!), and creating a better life for themselves. It's a piece of history that echoes the dreams of many Americans even now.
This interactive historic site is located just outside of the city of Buffalo and dates to the first quarter of the 19th century. As Vice President on the Board of Trustees and a direct descendent of a Revolutionary War veteran myself, one whose journey mirrors that of the Hull family, I'm passionately committed to creating an immersive experience where guests can actively engage with the past. Our museum encourages a playful and hands-on approach, inviting visitors to touch and explore every aspect of history. By “relighting the past” on this ordinary farming family, we can find out extraordinary things about our heritage, ourselves, and community today.
Our mission with this Go Fund Me campaign? To reconstruct a 200-year-old threshing barn to replace the Hull’s original barn, lost decades ago. Unlike a barn that houses animals, a threshing barn is a building where you separate edible grains from harvested crops, like wheat. This barn stood witness to the challenges faced and triumphs celebrated on the farming frontier - a living testament to resilience, family, and the pioneering spirit that built the foundation of our great nation.
Now, we are embarking on a journey to restore this historic gem. We aim to create more than just a barn - we're cultivating a space for educational programming, historic interpretation, event celebrations, and 'farm-to-table' meals. Picture a vibrant hub where the echoes of the past resonate with the present, and where the community can come together to celebrate our shared history.
By contributing to this GoFundMe, you're not just funding construction; you're investing in a piece of history that will stand as a testament to our collective past. Our museum is 100% volunteer-driven, meaning that all of your contributions will pay for reconstruction efforts. And, as we are a non-profit organization, every dollar you donate is tax deductible!
Please join me in making this barn rise again. Let's build a bridge between our past and future, preserving a slice of history. Help us raise the final $25,000 to put the finishing touches on the barn at the National Register-listed Hull farmstead. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey!
