Rally for George Hoxie Sr.: Aid Medical costs & cremation

The overwhelming support and love my family and I have received has really helped fuel me during this very rough time and for that I want to again say thank you! I truly believe we are meant to live in smaller communities and take care of each other! Although not a replacement I’m thankful the internet has allowed an extension of this way of life. It has allowed us to continue to operate as a tribe with those we care about and love. I love all of you! It is with the heaviest of hearts that I inform you that Mom (Betty Jo Wallace Hoxie) is no longer with us. She left us peacefully in her sleep yesterday morning with both my Dad (George Hoxie) and myself by her side. We will celebrate her life now & on 11/15 every year we will throw her a party because she wouldn’t have it any other way!

The money raised so far covered the feeding tube surgery which has been huge for Dad. I will be leaving this up so that we might can still help him

With the remaining medical bills, the end of life costs, and I’m trying to move him back to Florida with us. Thank you all!

We are George Hoxie Jr. and Katelyn Hoxie Doughtie, and we honestly can't believe we are in a position that requires reaching out for help like this. The help is for our father, George Hoxie Sr., to assist in our mother's medical bills. She is 5 months away from being eligible for Medicaid, but unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. Our parents haven't gone public with this information, and our dad is too proud to ask for help. Anyone who has ever met our mom loves her and also knows she is a warrior. We are going to fight this.

She is unable to eat due to the cancer spreading into her lymph nodes, so we had a surgery to install a feeding tube to the small intestine. The goal is to get her strength up and start treatment. Between the surgery, hospital, doctor bills, and medication, it is draining our father of his funds, as his only income is social security and disability payments from the VA. A few friends and family members have asked what they can do to help or what they can send her, and that is why we are setting this up. Obviously, if you're not in a position to help, that's okay, and we would just ask for your prayers. If you are, however, able to assist in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. Our mom is our best friend and has spent most of her life taking care of dogs. She is the life of any party and is one of the funniest people on earth. There is nothing she wouldn't do for her family and friends. She told us not to set up a GoFundMe, and we told her that she would be surprised how many people she has touched over the years that just want to help. We appreciate all the love, prayers, and support!
