Rebuild the Neonatal Intensive Care

The Caribbean island of Dominica, home to 73,000 people, was a beautiful island renowned for its lush green rainforest, 365 rivers and many waterfalls and lakes. She was aptly named the ‘Nature Island of the Caribbean’. On September 18 2017, the country was decimated by Hurricane Maria. There was extensive damage to infrastructure, including the Princess Margaret Hospital, the main hospital on the island. Most departments have been rendered completely nonfunctional as a result. Among the affected, sadly, are tiny premature and critically ill infants who are in urgent need of neonatal support services to improve their chances of survival.
Mr. Terry Sawh, President of Topnotch Employment Services Inc. and Dr. Narendra Singh, Chief of staff at Humber River Hospital and President of Guyana Help the Kids, have been approached by Dr Rhonda McIntyre- previous head of the Paediatric Department at Princess Margaret Hospital and Dr Jillian Lewis- Dominican Neonatologist, in light of the success of the Guyana Help the Kids model, to assist with rebuilding the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
They have made it their personal challenge to assist with this project. The aim is to provide technical and medical expertise through the efforts of Guyana Help the Kids and its board members and other interested parties. However funding to purchase equipment such as IV pumps, monitors, ventilators, incubators, bassinets etc is urgently needed.
It is with this in mind that we ask that you kindly consider supporting this worthy venture. Every bit counts!
We are completely committed to assisting with rebuilding the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Dominica.
The people of Dominica thank you!
