Recto "Rick" Soriano's Memorial Fund

"Our beloved father, Recto (Rick) Soriano was truly such a strong man. He has shown us all the strength in ways words can’t explain. Through this struggle, dad has fought incredibly hard everyday and lived his life without worry. His love for his family was ever growing and this was the hardest thing that we have ever faced in our lives together.

Dad had unfortunately tested positive COVID-19 in April.  He was well aware of the risks that come with the infection as he was already immunocompromised. Sadly, within a week of his quarantine at home, he needed immediate medical attention and he was taken to the ER. His oxygen was not getting better and he was taken to the ICU. Dad spent 10 days in isolation and on a ventilator. He was lucky enough to have transparent entryways to his room so we were able to see him from the hallway. We were able to spend everyday in his room with him as soon as he was released from isolation and he had made such good progress. This was such a blessing for us; seeing him fight, seeing his strength. Dad wanted to come home and it was very clear that he did. He was supposed to come home. He held our hands and woke up when we came to see him. He had many good and bad days but he would always follow up with improvement. After finally coming off the ventilator, he was working with therapy to regain his strength. However, the doctors had discovered that dad had a gastrointestinal bleed. They were deciding on the best way to treat it as dad had gotten several blood transfusions.

Dad had already spent one month in the ICU by now. His body unfortunately grew tired from fighting so hard and he coded. The doctors and nurses did everything they could to save him. His final moments were spent with his family; we held his hands, praying for another chance. His wings brought him to his new home up above, on May 24, 2021. He defied so many odds. He was a miracle man. The Lord called our dad to him, for reasons we will never understand. Everyday we came to see him and we showered him with love and with care. He was such a good man; a good brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He had made so many sacrifices for each and every one of us. For mom, for his kids, and for our children. Our hearts are so broken. Our home is not home without him. He deserved nothing more than to see his family grow, and to grow old with his loving wife. He may have left us physically, but his spirit lives within us, in our hearts. He remains in our prayers, and in our thoughts. We are hurt, broken and empty but we also know that dad would want us to stay strong as he would do for us, as he has always done for us.

My siblings and I have to come together and cover his medical/funeral expenses.. This is the hardest thing that we have ever had to do. We kindly ask for donations and appreciate the love and kindness in your hearts. Thank you all so much."♥️
