Rescue Thomas Walsh
When it rains, it pours in the Wild Honey Family. Syd Straw's situation is now in hand, thanks to all the love in our community, but now we must turn our attention to Thomas Walsh's brush with death and his desperate need for an unexpected/mandatory 3 month recovery period where he will be unable to work (thus pay for food, rent, utilities, and the rest).

From Thomas: Hi to my amazing friends and fans.
Well my bariatric surgery that I prepped for for 5 years didn't happen. In fact it went 100% wrong but somehow weirdly right. The operation was abandoned after it was noticed that my liver was badly damaged. Doctors then performed an ultra sound and it was bad.
The liver specialist in St. Vincents Hospital, Dublin came and told me that my liver had gone over the top sadly and I have cirrhosis. I stayed calm but went into a bit of a meltdown afterwards. He's a brilliant man and we'll fight this together with his wonderful team. He hates the disease.
My veins had been squeezing my stomach and liver for a long time and causing a massive build up of infected fluid known as Ascites. 12 litres in there to be exact. It's phenomenally debilitating. Walking 10 yards is impossible.
The cirrhosis is also a non-alcoholic version too. Basically a myriad of things including thyroid tablet overuse, mass ascites body fluid related infections and fatty acids which hardened the liver plus other technical stuff that didn't go in to my head at the time of the doctor sharing it. I was just thinking "How long left?" The greatest treatment on the planet for this condition is bariatric surgery (funny enough) but I need to lose weight naturally now so it all begins immediately or it's over.
I'll be on the best of medication and all the consultants are fighting my corner. Helen, my amazing surgeon was my guardian angel because if she hadn't have made a very important decision on the operating table during the beginning of my bariatric procedure then I'd have definitely died there.
A lot of heavy stuff to take in. So that's where I'm at except recovery is key now. And as my last album was 2017 my royalties for radio play and gigs have fallen to nothing as that's two years ago now. I'm planning to write during my recovery but I've no real way of earning and surviving.
Being Irish can be a heavy infliction sometimes as we're brought up as a nation to not ask for help. "You get yourself behind yourself and shove yourself along..." as my Mam regularly said. There are many more similar sayings in our world so we do tend to give more than take. But I do need real help. That's why I'm here...asking for it. Spreading the word or any form of help will mean everything.
Thank you all. Love - Thomas...
