Richard Sherman Memorial Fund by Jay & Serena
Donation protected
Sadly, after a short illness, Richard (Dick) Sherman passed on December 30, 2021.
He is survived by his wife Lyn and an endless list of people whose lives he touched in so many positive ways. Lyn lives in Vancouver, WA. She has limited resources and finds it challenging to coordinate and fund the proper celebration of life we all know he deserves. That is why we are here.
My name is Serena Wiley (Andrews), Richard changed the course of my life. He gave me my first "real" job when I was 18 at Topanga Unlimited. I learned so many important things working with him. He was always on the cutting edge of technology and that was the bedrock for my long career in IT. My brothers and many members of the community, young and old, have gone through years working with the Green Machine. The green trucks with the iconic blue lightning bolts were something everybody recognized. If you needed a job or get the job done, he was the guy everybody turned to. He was forever generous with his time, extensive knowledge & wisdom. A friend for more than 35 years, I am at a loss.

My name is Jay Fernandez. Richard was my dear friend and mentor. He taught me about the construction industry and amazed me with his engineering knowledge from his days at Rocketdyne. He was responsible for supporting an incredible cast of characters that worked for him, coming and going through the revolving door of Topanga Unlimited & Topanga Underground. He was a great storyteller and is already greatly missed.
With Richard’s passing, many have asked "how can we help?" Richard did not have life insurance, and some of his expenses were not covered by medical insurance. You can help by donating to this fund.
We are hoping for a celebration in Topanga either late June or early July and will update the information here when plans are finalized.
