Riley Smith Funeral Expenses

Riley Smith passed away September 24th due to injuries sustained from a car accident. Riley is the 17 year old, son of Brandy and Chris Smith and brother of Hunter.

Riley was in a motorcycle vs motor vehicle accident Monday evening. He was lifeflighted up to Primary’s in SLC where he spent the next 24 hours in surgery reattaching his right arm, fixing the lacerated tendons in his left hand, cutting open his abdomen due to the swelling and compartment syndrome, placing a stent in his only kidney, watching his brain bleed closely, getting him ready for dialysis and an ICP, and that was just the top half of his body. They still had his fractured pelvis and broken legs to address.

Yesterday afternoon they had to stop all surgeries and procedures for the day because his body couldn’t take any more trauma. My nephew coded shortly after going to ICU. They were able to shock his heart to a normal rhythm and they made the decision to open his abdomen up in the room to identify a cause or source of bleeding. His blood pressure was 60/40 and he was maxed out on the ventilator, only maintaining 30-60% oxygen levels. They decided there was nothing more that could be done and gave time for family and friends to say our goodbyes.

His absence from our family and this community is always going to be felt. I’ll always be asking why it had to be Riley but I know he’ll be watching over us all.

This GoFundMe is set up by Nikki Nowers, Brandy's sister/ Rileys Aunt. All proceeds will be transferred differently to Chirs and Brandy's bank account. The Funds will be spent on Funeral Services and Medical Bills.
