Rolo’s Heart Ablation Operation
Donation protected
Hi my name is Clare and this is my boy Rolo, he is a Golden Retriever and he is 16 months old, he will be 2 in July. He has a heart arrhythmia and needs an operation on his heart called a Heart Ablation which they can do at Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire. There is only one specialist vet in the world that can do the procedure and he lives abroad but he is back over in the UK for a few months to do some procedures. It all started back in March when Rolo suddenly became really poorly and his heart rate was 320 when it should be between 120-160, we rushed him to Southern County Vets in Ringwood (they are amazing) where they helped him but he was in and out for a few months as the medication they gave him didn’t work but after a few different medications he is now on some that keeps his heart rate low and stable. This medication could suddenly stop working at any point and his heart could fail. This is why Rolo needs to have the operation so his little heart will be ok and he won’t have a heart failure in years to come and he can come off his medication (which he has to take twice a day). I now need to raise the money so he can have the operation. He is the sweetest boy and has such a funny character, I just don’t know what I would do without him in my life. He brings us all so much joy and happiness, he has so much love to give. I would love to have him with me for many many more years ❤️
Update - finally we have been given a date, it is on Tues 25th Jan for his consultation and Weds 26th Jan for the operation, so he will be in for a few days and they’ve told us it will be about a weeks recovery.
Update on our gorgs boy Rolo the surgeon told us he damaged the extra electrical path way that was causing the increased heart rate but couldn’t destroy it as they had hoped too, which would have eradicated the problem. However they have damaged it enough for him to stay on medication and hopefully lead a normal happy life. When we went to collect him, on his way out all the nurses were stopping him to say goodbye, giving him lots of love (I don’t think he wanted to leave, loving all the attention). He’s got lots of shaven patches bless him, think he’s sulking with us now because we left him for a few days lol. We are so happy to be bringing him home.
