David's Recovery Fund

My baby brother, David (who's not really a baby anymore) was brutally attacked at a truck stop in West Virginia while on the road, working to provide for his family. Due to the severity of his injuries, I have chosen to protect his dignity and privacy by not including any gruesome images of his current condition. Instead, I used a picture of the flowers I sent him and his family. According to witnesses, he was knocked unconscious and then continuously beaten and stomped on while he couldn't even fight back, until the attacker was removed from the scene by police. Thank goodness they showed up when they did, or David may not have been with us today. Following his resulting surgeries (including plastic surgery to wire his broken jaw shut and implant metal plates in his cheeks to hold his eye sockets in place), he is unable to work for some time. He can't eat solid food and is barely able to walk on his own as a result of his head injury. His amazing wife has become his sole caretaker during this time, while taking care of their daughter and my mother (who lives with them). He was on the job when the attack took place, so they are filing for workman's comp, but who knows how long that will take or how much of the medical expenses it will cover. If you could please find it in your heart to help them get by until then, my family would be eternally grateful.
