Rural Covid Care centre in India

Everyone has been touched by what’s happening in India, and many of you must already be supporting organisations and charities involved in helping the vulnerable there. The needs are so vast though, that sometimes it feels any contribution is a drop in the ocean and we often don’t know the final beneficiaries. So when a rural covid care charity came to us seeking help, we decided to get involved and provide direct support with whatever possible.
The rural covid primary care centre near the village of Belgaon Dhaga, near Nashik city in India, caters to 22 nearby villages. It has 125 beds and provides initial covid care for mainly poor rural patients and families. Like many such care centres, it is now experiencing dire shortages of key life saving items and heavily relies on local charities for help. 'Give Welfare Organisation' is a charity in Nashik which has been serving the underprivileged and needy of the society for the last 20+years. In recent months, they have been focused on rural covid care centres around Nashik and have provided 330 beds, PPE, medical equipment for testing, medicine, food, support for poor families and lots of volunteers.
Now they are facing a crisis and need emergency items such as oxygen concentrators, back up power generators for ventilators, and funds to buy medical, PPE supplies and food rations for families. Our aim is to support them by raising funding for purchase of 8 to 10 oxygen concentrators (10L) and one 7kva back up generator. We are also working closely with other like minded friends to locate the items needed for the quickest supply in India. The estimated funding need is about £10,000 to £15,000 for the equipment. Any surplus funds will be used for other support activities of Give Welfare.
We are making good progress and are close to securing 10 oxygen concentrators (10 Liter capacity units) from Oxyrental, another charity working on supplying oxygen concentrators in India. For this purpose, I will be the person in charge of withdrawing the money raised on GoFundMe to make the payments for these O2 concentrators. These will then be delivered directly to Give Welfare in Nashik for the Covid Centres operated by them, by Oxyrental.
