GANDHI, UNTOUCHABLES AND ME is an intense personal story bringing out the message of social justice for Untouchables in India.
Could you believe, as per the official statistics, there are 161 million 'Dalits' or 'untouchables' in India? But in reality, there're at least 300 million of them disguised under different categories. They are the victims of an apartheid system based on caste for the last 3,000 years in the land of Buddha and in a country that stands for peace and anti-colonialism. You do not understand India unless you understand caste.
In my efforts to bring out this injusice to the international level, I've done a short film out of a feature lenghth script using my personal money. But, I'm exhausted and I need help.
After finishing this short and with your support, I will do a feature presentaton if I can find a producer. But, right now I need to finish the Short in its fullest form and put it before the public. I need to secure rights to music and to submit to film festivals. Every thing costs. To name a few: adding subtitles in other international languages and further editing to fit the screen etc.
A modest sum of (at least $9,000.00) is needed to meet some of these expenses and to explore avenues of producing a feature length film.
Why all this effort? Liberation of South Africa could not have happened but for the anti-apartheid campaign throughout the West. Even American revolution was aided by the efforts of Benjamin Franklin in Paris.
