Sam Edmond - Rehabilitation

UPDATE : 2nd October 2023
Angie & Paul have asked me to share an update with you all.

As you know Sam is critically ill and is in ICU at Kings College London. You will know he was awaiting a Liver transplant which has been successful.

BUT Sam has a rare condition called "Hepatopulmonary Syndrome" which affects the lungs. It is caused by the blood vessels in the lungs expanding and increasing in number, making it harder for the red blood cells to properly absorb Oxygen. So, whilst the Liver transplant has gone well it has hugely affected the lungs and his capacity to breathe, hence he is at this point in time relying on the ECMO machine to help his lungs to breathe, on top of this the bottom left side of his lung collapsed, he contracted MRSA and Sepsi and had to be put into an induced coma so it could all be treated and whilst under the sedation he has since suffered 2 Strokes, one of which has affected the mobility on the right side of his body !

A HUGE THANKYOU to everyone that has reached out and supported Angie, Paul and Beth so far !

As you will appreciate Sam is going to need a serious amount of Medical and Phsychological support once he's out of the hospital. Hence we have set up this Go Fund Me Page.

Prayers for his very long road to recovery and his truly wonderful family. I'm sure you'll all agree he is a fabulous young man who deserves a bright future ... KRO Sammy xxx

**********************************************************************************************

As you will be aware Sam had been waiting for a Liver Transplant for circa a year, after a 6 month stint at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham he finally got his transplant on the 16th August 2023.

Whilst the Liver has taken Sam took an unexpected turn and ended up in ICU with breathing problems due to his lungs. He had emergency Surgery at the QE and was transferred to the ICU unit at Kings College London on 21st August, where he has been for the last 5 weeks linked up to an ECMO machine a Ventilator and under Sedation.

Sam has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. Every day is a new day and the steps to recovery are very small, but he's a fighter and has the most amazing family and friends supporting him.

As you will appreciate Sam's recovery is going to be made up of many factors... Medical, Psychological & Physical.

Lots of people have been asking how they can help ! Well with a LOT of coercion Angie & Paul have agreed to let me set up this Go Fund Me page so that all of you amazing people can donate to help towards Sam's rehabilitation when they get him home... this could take on any form and will be dependent upon Sam's needs eg., it could be Physio, Counselling, amends to living whilst recovering, a breakaway !

We've all got Sam, Angie, Paul and Beth in our thoughts and prayers. I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your support for them it means so much xx
