Sarah King-Scott For Miss Washington Teen USA

Hello, friends, family, and prospective fans! :)

I am proud to announce that for the first time ever, I will be competing in Miss Washington Teen USA as Miss King County Teen USA 2019.

Even as a pageant newcomer, I am already very active in my community. I have traveled to our beautiful state capital twice to advocate for online learning in my official capacity. On March 20th, I even testified before the Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education committee in support of a bill that would help online public schools, just like the one I attend.

While I have only officially been Miss King County Teen USA for less than a month, I am already feeling so blessed to have the opportunity to compete.

About Me:

I am a 16-year-old honor-roll student. I attend Insight School of Washington, where I maintain a 3.979 GPA. I am Vice President of my school’s National Honor Society chapter. I will begin Running Start this fall to earn my high-school diploma and my Associates degree at the same time, the first step in what is sure to be an ambitious career.

I am passionate about supporting online learning, environmental causes, ending childhood hunger, and advocating against bullying.

When I was six years old, I was diagnosed with a heart condition called Supraventricular tachycardia. This condition kept me out of school for two years, until I was old enough for a procedure that removed the cause of the extra heartbeats. I experienced a "mini-stroke" the next day, most likely from a blood clot, and spent the next three days in Intensive Care at Seattle Children's Hospital. Experiencing all this at such a young age has made me resilient in the face of adversity, and taught me to never take a day for granted.

One interesting fact about me is that last year, I spent a month of my summer vacation in the Ecology Youth Corps picking up litter on the side of Washington state highways. You can learn more about the Ecology Youth Corps and their mission here: https://ecology.wa.gov/Waste-Toxics/Solid-waste-litter/Litter/Ecology-Youth-Corps

(I'm the girl in braids giving the thumbs-up sign!)

Where will your donations go?

Your donations will go towards my pageant expenses (evening gown, hair and makeup, photography, coaching, etc.) that currently total almost $6000. This is a little bit more than my occasional babysitting will bring in! However, I truly think that I would make an outstanding Miss Washington Teen USA.

I want to give this pageant my all. So, I am asking for your help.

Your donation, whether $1 or $100, will help me show the judges the best possible version of myself.

So what will you get out of donating to my GoFundMe? Besides my eternal gratitude, there are a variety of perks for every level of donation:

$25-50 – A feature on social media and a personal thank you letter.

$51-$100 – A ticket to your choice of either event: Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA preliminary OR the Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA final show, a feature on social media, and a personal thank you letter.

$101-$200 – One chance to win a $100 Cupcake Royale gift card, a ticket to your choice of either event: Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA preliminary OR the Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA final show, a feature on social media, and a personal thank you letter.

$201-$300 – One chance to win a $100 Starbucks gift card, one chance to win a $100 Cupcake Royale gift card, a ticket to your choice of either event: Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA preliminary OR the Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA final show, a feature on social media, and a personal thank you letter.

$301-$500+ – I list your name as a sponsor in the official pageant program publication (distributed to a large audience at the pageant and to the media), one chance to win a $100 Starbucks gift card, one chance to win a $100 Cupcake Royale gift card, a ticket to your choice of either event: Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA preliminary OR the Miss Washington/Miss Washington Teen USA final show, a feature on social media, and a personal thank you letter.

What do I get out of pageantry, besides the obvious pretty dresses and shiny crowns?

Well, I get to connect with my community and share my story with thousands. In March I was interviewed by both Kiro-7 and King-5 about my pageant title, health struggles, and platforms.
You can see the Kiro 7 interview here: http://www.kiro7.com/video?videoId=931361037&videoVersion=1.0

And you can read the King 5 interview here:

Additionally, pageantry could be a huge help in funding my education. The 2020 Miss Washington USA & 2020 Miss Washington Teen USA titleholders will each receive well over $40,000 in prizes, awards, and scholarships.

Most importantly, pageantry allows me to be the role model I needed when I was younger. I hope to be an inspiration to young women, kids with serious medical issues, and people facing adversity and challenges of all kinds.
