Saving Brett’s house

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Brett and Steven Yarbrough. We are trying to help them pay back taxes owed by his father so he can keep their house and raise his nephew.

Brett’s grandfather served in world war 2. When he returned home from the war, he bought 459 Hatch street, in Saint Paul Minnesota. There he and his wife raised their Son, Scott. Years later, Scott bought the house next door to his parents so he could raise his family and be close to his parents. 25 years later, Scott had to sell his house to help his mother keep their family home and care for her during the end of her life.

Scott’s children had moved away and started their lives and all was well. Scott was later giving a terminal diagnosis, which brought his children back home so they could help their mother care for him. Brett and his sister Lonnie and her new born son. After the unexpected death of Scott’s wife, Christine, things spiraled down hill, unknown bills began to mount. Scott’s health declined even further. Scott’s daughter Lonnie, became addicted to drugs. As things got harder at home, Lonnie bailed on the family and abandoned her son with her sick father and single brother. Shortly after, Scott passed away.

Brett, determined to do better for his nephew, has stepped up and has been caring for his 8 year old nephew. They are now living in the house that Brett’s grandfather bought after serving in world war 2. With the bills growing, the city is planning to foreclose on the house they are living in, if the back taxes are not paid. We’re asking for help. If you know what it’s like to need help, then you understand how difficult of a time this is. If you can, Anything helps! If they take away their house, the next step will be the removal of Steven from Brett’s care. Brett is the only family Steven has left that cares. It’s been an adjustment period to say the least. Between having to quit his job and sort through the processes of closing loose ends for a deceased loved one, things have been hard. Thank you in advance!
