Saving Lady Sugar Shack BBQ (a small business)
Donation protected
My name is Lynette Burgess, and I own Lady Sugar Shack BBQ in Osteen, Fl. Obviously, this is a fundraiser for our business, but I would like to tell you a little about how it all started. I started LSS BBQ in 2016 out of desperation and hardship, with a Uhaul pick-up, a grill, a tent, and two tables, $68 worth of product. I went to an area I knew was in demand, and after several "no's" I was able to set up in the parking lot of Division 3 Weapons in Osteen, Fl. Within several months, I worked myself out of the uhaul, and into my own pick-up. After two years of hard work, dedication, and consistency, and with the help and support from the Osteen/Deltona residents. I was able to save up a down payment for a brand new food trailer. Things grew, so much so I was able to employ my children, and we have been riding the waves, of the current affairs of the economy ever since. We were able to acquire a second location this year, thinking it would rejuvenate business, and it did. Unfortunately, we had an accidental fire that closed it down, and negatively affecting us, we lost all of our product and some equipment. But now, the waves are crashing overboard and we're taking on too much water, and this is our S.O.S. call. Why should anyone donate? This has been my life's desire ever since I was a child, when my parents owned a BBQ pit in the 70's in Eatonville Fl. That is where I got the name Lady Sugar Shack from. My Dad's CB radio handle was "Sugar Shack", and the men on the CB would call my Mom 'Lady Sugar Shack". They're no longer here, but I find joy in finishing an idea my father started. I also have another dream, of being on Food Network Television, specifically "Diner's, Dive's, & Drives". We have been in the same location for 7 years, we have become a kind of landmark, and a picture of our food trailer has been on Google Maps since 2018. And everyone knows the "BBQ Lady" on 415 in Osteen, residents tell me the corner wouldn't be the same without seeing the smoke coming out of the grill.
We have weathered the storms of the last couple of years, from viruses to hurricanes, and economic down turns. We are straight home grown, family operated, from the dirt of Florida, and I'm proud to say that, but I'm also humble enough to try anything to save us. We are trying to raise enough funding to save 7 years of hard work, and insure Lady Sugar Shack BBQ is in the same spot for another 70 years. What we are asking for will not only get us out of the red, but will insure our longevity. I have 11 payments left of 72, and we're struggling to keep the doors open. I just don't want everything to go down the drain. I know once this heavy weight is off of the the ship, & with continued hard work, it would be smooth sailing into the future. I know every small business is taking in water, because we talk, and I pray for all of our continued success, and maybe this can shine a light, & move others to use this platform without shame.
Thank you for your time. (This is my advertisement quote) "If you are ever on the corner of 415 & Doyle Rd in Osteen Fl, Lady Sugar Shack BBQ in the parking lot of Division 3 Weapons, next to Osteen Baptist Church, across from Skips boots, next to Foxhead Lounge. Where I say it's the only corner in America, where you can come get you five "B's": some BBQ, Bullets, Boots, Beer, and get Blessed all in the same spot! LOL!!!!
