Scarlett’s DMG Brain Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
UPDATE as of 2/13/2024: Scarlett has undergone two radiation treatments and has 28 more to go! We could not be more proud of how she's handled the process. We would like to thank everyone who has shown their love and support by praying, reposting to bring awareness, and contributing to Scarlett's GoFundMe and Venmo accounts. We've learned each day that our family does not stand alone. We are surrounded by a tremendous amount of love and support from family, friends, friends of friends, co-workers, and many beautiful full-hearted people. Our days continue to be full of worrisome disparity for answers but mostly thoughts of wanting to create memories, take pictures, and not take time for granted. We have looked into clinical trials that would consist of Isaiah and me traveling to another state and possibly another country. We will continue circulating Scarlett's GoFundMe page for those of you who would like to share. The funds will be used towards her medical expenses, lodging costs, and necessary items to be able to accommodate Scarlett during her brain cancer process.

On Tuesday, January 9th, we took Scarlett to her primary doctor, who advised us to follow up with a visit to CHOC as a precaution. Two weeks prior, I noticed her left eye crossing inward and, as a means, had taken her in for a visit. Hours later, a CT SCAN revealed a mass in her brain. Within a few days, I had an MRI, a biopsy, and a repeat MRI. She was released to go home while we waited for the biopsy results. On 1/24/2024, the oncologist let us know that Scarlett, our baby girl - was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The oncologist would then need to send out her biopsy sample for a gene mutation test to confirm her DMG diagnosis (H3K27M/ACVR1). As we navigate through what feels like a nightmare, we lean on each other to pray together, to sit in silence at times, and to hold on to our faith to help guide us. Scarlett will undergo radiation treatment on 02/12/2024 and complete her radiation sessions on 3/22/2024. Any contribution would be used as a means for clinical trial treatment. We appreciate everyone who has helped and reached out to our family during this difficult time.

Those who know Scarlett get to enjoy her sass, her love, and her tight hugs. Scarlett is one of those kids you meet and instantly have a great memory of her. She knows how to live life to the fullest and never takes no for an answer. She has so much love to give and so much life to live. Her caring soul reflects how she puts others' needs above hers. She's an intense and persistent individual who can take on any obstacle. We know in our hearts that this diagnosis is just another obstacle waiting for her strength and persistence to knock it down. On that note, we will continue praying and sharing our story to bring awareness to the world. We won't take any day for granted and choose to live through Scarlett's sass and love.

So here's a message we have for cancer- "you picked the wrong kid!"
