Scott Aaron Swanton 1966 - 2024

This is Larry. I'm a fellow singer of 27 years with Scott. A number of people have generously asked about making a contribution to help with expenses, and I want to help.

Scott was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly, suffering a massive stroke early Monday morning. He was monitored for any sign his life might be spared, but we realized we would have to let him go.

He passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at 4:03 PM at Mission Hospital, Asheville, North Carolina.

This has left a huge chasm in many hearts. Expenses have been accruing, and I want to help him to have his final wishes met as much as possible.

We deeply appreciate any amount donated for him.

His passing represents a 149-year family lineage of Christian Harmony shaped-note singing in our region, and this will never happen again.

He touched many lives with his lifelong passion of the tradition, roots of which came with his family to these shores.

With love and gratitude for all I have learned and lived, and all those I love here, I am making this request. Thank you so much.
