Scotty and Amber need help after car accident
Donation protected
Scotty and Amber Gatti have been homeless since January of 2018 after Scotty lost his job. After their car (and only place to sleep) was towed, the couple spent several months on the streets before a new job opportunity came up for Scotty.
Unfortunately, before they could accept the new job, Scotty was hit by a car while biking. His body was thrown very far and upon impact, he broke his back and leg in multiple locations.
Due to this accident, Scotty became disabled and this has been an additional challenge for them in turning their situation around and in obtaining financial stability.
Scotty and Amber were able to gather enough money to buy a 25 year-old RV recently and have been living in it for some time. The RV however broke down and it cannot be moved anymore -- this means that when they sleep at night there is no A/C or heater, and they have no electricity. Additionally, because permanent parking in Orange County is nearly impossible to find, they fear that their RV (and only home) may be towed for parking in a single location for too long.
Scotty is still in need of serious medical care for his injuries and hopes that he can soon heal and return to working as a construction worker.
Money donated to Scotty and Amber will go to:
- Paying for his medical treatment from the accident (this is most urgent)
- Fixing the RV fuel pump so that they can drive it to a safer location
Scotty and Amber have endured heartbreakingly unfortunate circumstances. Despite all that, they are an amazingly strong and resilient couple. They are hardworking and hopeful that they will be able to turn their situation around but are in need of support and encouragement from the community.
With sincere gratitude,
Helena Carlson
