Sean’s Open Heart Surgery & Recovery

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

The day after Father’s Day Sean woke up with chest pressure and difficulty breathing. We thought it was due to the poor pollution & extreme heat. Sean has been working shifts outdoors during the heat of the day. As the day went on the pain intensified and became persistent in his back. I rushed him the ER where they ran a series of test but could not find a problem. They stated that he did NOT have a heart attack and had papers in hand for discharge when his blood pressure dropped in front of the doctor. She immediately decided to stop the discharge & run further testing. A contrast CT scan was administered & he was kept overnight. The following day we met with the Cardiologist doing his rounds and decided to run a stress test. Results came back with an abnormal stress test. He then told us that he went back reread the CT scan and noticed crystallization in the right lower chamber of his heart. The cardiologist scheduled a catheter the next day to get a better look & see where to go from there. He was given 3 scenarios that could come from the results of the procedure, 1. Less than 70% of blockage is seen and they treat with medication & an aggressive plan; 2. Over 70% blockage and they would place stent(s) in as needed; and 3. Open heart surgery due to too much damage. Results came back in 30 mins of the procedure & the doctor stated he needed open heart surgery. He said Sean had multiple vein disease & the widow maker is blocked. The cardiologist got chocked up when he told us saying”You’re only 2 years younger than me.” Even with this life changing news, Sean was sent home and told to see the surgeon. We made plans with the surgeon for surgery to be the Friday after July 4th. Sean’s body had other plans. We are back in the hospital as his chest pains came back. He is being admitted & surgery will happen sooner. I’m not sure as to when, but I will have piece of mind he is being monitored. I am creating this fundraiser to assist my family as my Sean endures a triple bypass open heart surgery & his recovery. The funds will assist in loss of wages and medical cost. He is only a month short of qualifying for FMLA from his employer.
