Secure the Future for Alderney Golf Club

Alderney Golf Club
'The next 50 years'

This campaign is to underpin the future of Alderney Golf by raising money which will be used to replace the ageing and failing irrigation systems, enable new essential equipment to be purchased, continue renovations to the Clubhouse, and to secure the financial viability of the club and to this end it is important that we are able to attract funds immediately.

Alderney Golf Club will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2020 and we would like to ensure that it will be around for another 50 years. The club officially opened on 10th June 1970 and the clubhouse was opened two years later. Since those early days there have been a number of improvements to the course and club amenities, including the construction of a bowling green which has proved to be very popular.

The club has overseas and UK members as well as a junior section, and social and bowling club members. However, Alderney is a small island with a population of just under 2000 people and so generating funds solely through membership and playing visitors is challenging.

Alderney is a beautiful 9-hole course with alternate tees to make a demanding 18-hole course with natural hazards and at times a wind factor that can test the most competent. The course is one of the most scenic in the Channel Islands with views across to France, and as the club is not over subscribed, unlike most other golf courses in the UK it is usually possible to walk on and play without having to book a tee time.

Alderney Golf Club was voted one of Golf Monthly's Top 100 Hidden Gems and according to them a 'hidden gem' is "a golf course that embodies fun from start to finish; one where the scenery, the atmosphere and the feel-good factor count for more than the severity of the test or the flawlessness of the presentation" and this certainly epitomises the course in Alderney.

We are appealing to golf lovers worldwide to donate whatever they can to help cement the future of Alderney Golf Club. For anyone who assists us in this challenge we hope you will one day come to visit Alderney and at our invitation play a round of golf on a course that we are trying to guarantee will  be with us for the next 50 years.
