What started as the most incredible vacation, turned into an absolute nightmare.
The very first night we got to the Bahamas, I fell off that balcony pictured at the beginning of the video. 8 stories high. I was leaning too far over talking to the people below me and fell forward. Justin tried to catch me, but I slipped thru his arms. He had to watch me fall into a shallow water area that is also pictured in the video. Talk about traumatic. With some angel holding my hand, I luckily landed with my head in the deeper side, and my legs in the rocky area.
I broke my femur / fractured my hip, had both lungs collapse, and had a small tear in my kidney. It’s a miracle that those are my only injuries. Doctors say it’s absolutely insane that I am still alive.
After the fall, I was rushed to the hospital in the Bahamas where they took X-rays, MRI’s, blood work, and placed two tubes in my lungs to drain all of the blood / fluid and to pump air into my lungs since they weren’t working. The hospital conditions were extremely poor and so I chose to be airlifted in a medical plane to the closest hospital in the states for my surgery.
I had a metal rod put into my leg and had 3 blood transfusions and the two tubes still in my chest. I had to learn how to operate my leg and walk again which has been very humbling lol. I’m making fast progress tho— being able to even walk on it a little bit already is great.
Between having to charter a medical plane, hospital bills, having to rent a car to drive home (23 hours) this weekend because I can’t fly for 2 weeks, hotel stays etc, our pockets are running LOW. My sister created a go-fund-me in hopes we can get a little help for all of these expenses.
Any amount will be so appreciated and mean the world to me.
I’m beyond thankful to be here still and want to thank my family for flying down to help take care of me, especially olivia. She has bathed me, catered to me in bed for 4 days, and has been the biggest emotional support I could ask for.
Justin— you have done everything you can to make me feel comforted and calm while going thru your own trauma of the whole situation. I literally could never thank you enough. I love you beyond words.
These two have switched off sleeping literally IN my hospital bed with me because I wanted to be that close to them. We decided to keep this quiet at first because there was so much going on mentally and physically, just didn’t want more attention.
It’s a long journey ahead to recovery, but I’m taking it day by day. Thank you God for having my back, I truly know I’m here for a reason and that this wasn’t my time.
Love to all of you
