Ella Griggs is the 13 year old daughter of Farris and Leslie Griggs. For those of us who are lucky enough to know Ella, we can all agree that Ella is one of those people that others gravitate towards. She has an unseen energy, a light within her that shines bright. Simply put, Ella is Shiny. She is smart, kind, fierce and fearless. Ella is able to disarm you with her quick wit while also putting you at ease with her humor and big smile.
On March 28, 2018, while at lacrosse practice, Ella suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. She was rushed to Scottish Rite and admitted into ICU where she remained for nearly a month. For over two weeks, Ella was in a medically induced coma while doctors ran tests and tried to control the swelling and bleeding in her brain. By the grace of God, Ella survived the stroke, is now stable, and has been moved to the Rehabilitation Unit of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital. We are so blessed to have CHOA hospitals in our community as we can all take some solace in the fact that Ella’s medical team is one of the best.
Although the transition to rehab is progress, her road to recovery will be long and the cost of her care for the foreseeable future will be enormous. This journey will be filled with co-pays, therapies, uncovered medical equipment expenses, the possible need for technology assisted devices and other costs. This GoFundMe page has been set up for those who would like to financially contribute to her fight. The funds raised by this page will allow the Griggs to solely focus on Ella’s maximum recovery. Please donate whatever you are able and definitely share with your friends and family. Every dollar we raise will make a difference. Shine On Ella!
