K-9 Sinda's Cancer Treatment

My name is Paulo and two weeks ago, I received the worst news of my life: my partner in crime, someone I've spent every second with for 4 years, since October of 2011, has cancer. Sinda is a 7-year-old German Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois, trained in explosives detection, and worked at Orlando International Airport until recently. She has always had recurrent ear infections, but when one wouldn't go away after multiple attempts at different medications, and she started having pain in her jaw to where she couldn't even open it to grab a ball, we were referred to a specialist for further treatment. A CT scan revealed a mass protroduing out of her ear canal, spreading up into her ear, almost to her outer ear, and so deep that it was now grazing the back of her jaw, causing pain while chewing, yawning, and playing, along with the normal pains associated with cancer. We were hopeful at first, but because of the cost of the surgery and radiation, as well as the pain medication she is now on multiple times a day, we were forced to have her retired. We're not ready to give up yet.
